"Grasscloth" wall treatment 02/24/2010
![]() House Beautiful August 2008 As I've mentioned in previous entries, my current lease does not allow for painting the walls unless I'm prepared to repaint the exact same shade of "renters beige". No, thank you. So, in addition to my wallpaper panels that I plan to hang near my entry, I wanted to treat the wall behind my bed. I used this picture from an article in House Beautiful as my inspiration. The panels are done, by the way, but I haven't hung them yet. They were really easy to do and look great. ![]() For this project, I purchased a couple of trifold yoga mats from Pearl River Mart for $4.50 each that are 6 ft. wide and 8 ft. long. I used velcro to secure the mats to the wall, reinforcing with extra adhesive on the side that connects the mat to the velcro. ![]() The mat has a very unfortunate peach polyester binding connecting the different folds. That's an easy fix with glue and some grosgrain ribbon. I used a brick red grosgrain ribbon (bought on sale at Michael's for $1/roll) to tie into the rest of the color scheme in the apartment. It's the cheap, easy way to fake out grasscloth wallpaper. CommentsLeave a Reply |
